The Priory Visitor Centre as it stands today was built following an archaeological dig by Channel 4's Time Team and Coventry City Council between 1999 and 2003. For years, original artefacts from the 11th century cathedral, built by Leofric, Earl of Mercia, and his wife, Lady Godiva, had lain undiscovered.

History of Priory Visitor Centre
Priory Visitor Centre in Coventry is closely linked to the history of St. Mary's Priory and Cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century. Originally built as a Benedictine monastic house, the priory played a significant role in the religious and cultural life of the city. The site was heavily damaged during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century and subsequently underwent various periods of restoration and renovation.

About Priory Visitor Centre
Priory Visitor Centre is now a modern facility that is used as an event space and the Undercrofts serve to educate visitors about the rich history and heritage of the area, providing insight into the significance of the priory and its impact on the development of Coventry.
